Why is petrol so expensive, and just about everything else you can think of in the uk...because it is an island perhaps...and we have lost our manufacturing and engineering industry.

we have lost our manufacturing and engineering industry. High Taxes, High Fuel Costs tat drive up prices because of transport and heating costs, and also people who want to '' get rich quick''

Is that a good example of a well made hive in the US only lapped joints at the corners and not finger jointed
I quite agree as why is everything in the UK more expensive but it is on ebay and as with all auctions even if its Christies South Kensington or ebay dont assume that what you see is honest and truthful.

and most of our cash in the long term as someone's gone out and almost bankrupted the country..

why are uk prices so high..£45 for a hive plus frames and foundation, pity they dont deliver to uk

The frames and foundation alone would cost ~ £30 here - then you have to assemble them - can't see anyone making a hive for ~ £15 even cheap wood costs more than that before you start.

In Finland 10 piece frame parts + foundations are £ 18.

Frame is £ o,6

ten brood langstoth frames made up with wax foundation from a well know uk supplier are £36.60 plus Vat £5.50 plus postage £8

so that is £50.10 or £5.01 per frame....almost more than the poor pine single walled langstroth on american Ebay and that has two set of wax and frames, super and brood, roof and floor

ok its a poor pine single wall langstroth and in no way compares with TOM BICK's hives which are excellent and totally better constructed and i will be buying one shortly :Chevy_anim:

but the ebay item is a standard pine hive and is a simialr to those Wall Mart (ASDA)and other large American hypomarkets advertise at similar prices

More than that, you've got to buy another 20 frames (deep and shallow) before being able to use all the kit you've bought and this is before buying another set of 4 supers and frames each time you go up a layer...

Perhaps thats why things are more expensive in this country because people see that we are stupid enough to buy over priced products in the first place

Hi

Why are hives so expensive?

Because every time some bright spark muppet gets an idea they invent a new hive:svengo:

Then we go and produce them in Cedar.

Then unlike the rest of the world most of our frames are produced with a long lug(because we have delicate little fingers)

This then means that some types of hives need to be produced with a rebate with all the extra work involved.

Oh for a world of Langstroths:patriot:
