Guys, went to have a pre-first inspection inspection today. (i.e. quick look in the top)

Colony is on satndard national, brood and 1/2. Bees look good, bringing in pollen and nectar. I stopped looking when I found brood at all stages on one of the top frames. I did remove one other of the top frames, which was on the side of the super, as it had some peculiar white cells that alarmed me. I doubt it's chalkbrood as under the white stuff appears to be pollen. this is the only frame with this. here's some pics....

Any ideas as to what the white stuff is?

.
It is molded pollen. Nothing else. Otherwise combs seems good.
And mold seems to be on the surface of pollen. Often mold is up to bottom of cells.

Bee can clean those easily.

.camember cheese of bees.

I am thinking how to help bees clean the cells. If pollen is soft, you may cut the mold surface with sharp knife.

ok think I'll just ditch the frame as the bees have plenty of pollen and are also bringing loads in.

thanks

Tony
