Even I know what a gean tree is - a wild cherry.

Well you learn something new every day,
It's like the other day some one said do you know what a Jilly is ?
A wall flower. Black country for wall flower.

Its coastal and around 8cm tall. Thanks in advance.

Entranced today at the sound! and sight of one of those very early decorative cherries - single and white - covered in honeybees and just a very few other pollinators. I was glad to see them flying back and forth in the direction of my hives some half a mile away. The tree was on the end of a roadside hedgerow no-where near gardens so at first I assumed blackthorn but it was not. No thorns, and no leaves opened yet whereas blackthorn opens leaves as the flowers blossom.

Extraordinary that cherry - wild and cultivated - has such a wide flowering period across its various varieties. Four months at least? Just begun and early in the North East. Gean cherry - we tend to call it bird cherry in these parts - not close to opening yet around here.

;)
Enlighten Thee..is it those ***** pink petaled things that the wind blows everywhere which are a pain in the arse..or is it the Natural Wild cherry with no such drama ..?

Ahh, to be English ;) not only do you have such a flowery language, you also have flowery pinky poo too, and I thought yellow bee poo super-glued to my windscreen was bad enough

They are bringing in lots of gorse at the moment and smaller amounts of something bright yellow/lemon in colour, which is probably willow.

Spotted some on a sculpted shrub that we have, looks like Buxus Sempervirens aka box hedge. Pollen was a pale lime colour.

Today's sightings and I'll watch what my spell check does with them!
A winter honeysuckle bush, tatty al leaves and insignificant flowers full of bees, and scent!
Then forage for pollen from curly hazel.

(Tatty al being correct Tyneside speak for somewhat worn and torn you understand)

I didn't realize buxus flowered? It could be Japanese Holly ? It look very similar.

9c I've just walked around the common there's willow in full bloom and my girls are on them , the willow is 10/20 metres away from the hives.
It's ashame it's not 16c for a bit of nectar secretion.

The willows near mine are only just starting to bud, its a cool 8-9C today. If the sun breaks through it may warm up a little more.

As Wiki states, Buxus is a genus of about 70 species in the family Buxaceae. Common names box or boxwood .

I’ve just seen some laurel in flower, at home it’s still a little way off
