The swarm I put on foundation in the poly nuc at about 7.30pm tonight is buzzing a lot and there are bees wandering over the front of the hive. It is cold outside - maybe 10C. What are they up to?? All the other bees quiet.

Hi Polyanwood

You have not mentioned feeding them as they are on foundation.
They will need help to draw the comb out from the foundation.
Try putting a comb of drawn foundation in the centre of your swarm and see what transpires.

Regards;

They are calling in all the family.

They are generating heat to produce wax and draw out the foundation.

They will be using the feed you hve surely given them to help with the wax work.

They will be near force feeding the queen to get her into lay again.

apart from that not a lot....

Thanks Poly Hive. They were very noisy last night. They must have thought they were on double time!
