Chatjack .. the magpie has taken to sleeping on the kitchen door.. possibly slightly more hygienic than in the popcorn maker on top of the cupboard??
He/she is free fling and apparently spends quite a bit of time down the local pub begging crisps and sasauges . Comes in at dusk through the kitchen window and in a morning followed me about until I feed him … can be a bit disconcerting when having a shower🐛

Don't be silly.
In normal houses the kitchen maid stays there.

I keep a pickaxe handle behind the door. It's waiting to be fitted to the axe head but somehow I just haven't got round to it. You can't beat a nice piece of Hickory 😎
I have a cut down cricket bat for unwelcome visitors.
