Good evening

Some wax melting questions. Ignoring old brood combs, how do people deal with wax from brace comb etc. I seem to be gathering a reasonable amount.

Are the electric wax melters such as the kochstar from Thornes any good, or a waste of money? Can anybody recommend any models?

It must be possible to convert a Burco tea boiler. Has anybody done so?

How do forum members deal with wax, either a crude melt down from brace comb, or cleaning the resulting wax in order to use it?

For small amounts think bean tins. And surgical lint. Plus an oven and gravity.

Pretty straight forward.

Bigger amounts think solar power.

For serious amounts, say 30lb+ then there is a construction you may be interested in.

I think that it firmly falls in the solar powered category then. certainly not 30lb +!!

The bean tins are surprisingly effective I was told, and read in various articles.
