Wax moth larvae in honey extractor

Hi,

I took 4 supers off 3 hives a week ago, but unfortunately couldn't extract them until last night. I stored them in the house utility room where the temperature was 25c.
All of the frames looked ok, with one or two much darker with a more uneven surface, and the extraction went well.

At the end of the process i looked into the extractor and saw, at the bottom of the tank, a small white which caterpillar like thing around 15mmmm long maybe and 3mm diameter. And then I recall seeing a moth under the roof of a hive (not one that i have not extracted from), but thought nothing of it. I'm no good at identifying moths, but have googled wax moth and will take a closer look next time - and get rid of it!

But i am assuming what i saw in the extractor is a wax moth larvae?

If so, is the extracted honey ok?

just remove larvae and forget about it.

I suspect your honey also contained bits of bee, bee poo, etc etc. It's why we filter. It's still pretty gross though. If the public knew more about honey I suspect they wouldn't eat as much.

It could be a special. Like the worm thing in tequila. A raw worm in untreated honey. Sounds like a winner
