Started a nuc last week with a queen cell, a frame of bees,1 of brood and eggs and a frame of food, noticed wasp around the area so lifted the top of and around fifty wasp came flying out.
The entrance was reduced to the size of single bee and there are wasp traps around (but empty), going away for 2 weeks tomorrow is there anything else i could do before i go as i don't hold up much hope of them surviving at this rate.

At this time in the season, I would not even think about a weak nucleus. Wasps will take advantage if they can!!

The only way to keep the wasps out is with a lot of defenders. Fill it with bees. You can remove some later as it strengthens. But as it is? It is gone.

Regards, RAB
