Watching the hive entrance today as bees were flying around I have dark brown bees trying to get in lots of fighting at the entrance , is this unsual at this time of year ? as I hope they are not slowly geting robbed out of stores.

Its the same ones that tried this early October but less of them this time.

Fighting is never a good sign. A colony that is queenless becomes disorganized and call fall prey to robber bees - at any time of the year.

Converseley, if you were a bee in a queenless colony that is collapsing the idea of moving home and finding another colony to join would be no bad idea. That's if the guard bees will allow you in.

Very hard for them to get past the guards at this time of year as they have nothing to bribe them with to gain entry.
