Hive 3

frame 1 cb + stores
frame 2 cb + lava
frame 3 cb
frame 4 cb
frame 5 cb
frame 6 cb + stores
frame 7 capped stores complete frame
frame 8 part drawn and uncapped stores
frame 9 foundation

Frame 2/3/4/5/6/ are nats
frame 1/7/8/9/ dadant shallows
there is wild comb under frames and beside nat frame due to size difference
i have managed this quiet well and for the minute i will leave it this way.
Wild comb aslo has store and the wild comb under the frames has cb.

I have added a supper today, would you say that was right thing to do

I would take a guess and say that hive 3 is about twice the size in bees and cb as hive 2.

I would be greatfull for any ideas as to why there is such a difference as they are both the same bee and hive type setup.

Sorry but I am being thick here, CB = sealed brood?

PH

Ok Ph sealed brood, i just took it as had cappings over, lol but you are right.
it's sealed brood.
I'm getting there slowly lol

They are sited in a valley with ponds and streams lots of woods and flowers about.
Nucs make up with brood and same laying queen of the brood with stores.
Drifting bees , i put the hives at different angles to each other as in ted hoopers book to try and stop this, but yes there are a few drifting. There are 4 hives in total of which the other 2 are of a different type of bee but are doing ok.

I forgot to say that i also fed (hive 2) 2ltrs of sugar syrup 13 days ago.
This was all gone.
