Thanks to Oliver90Owner for timely reminder!

All three of my hives are going well - ( supers put on last week already 2/3 full of nectar) but whilst two have negligible varroa count one has a 8/day count, which according to the MAFF booklet is bordering on the heavy. I scraped off some drone brood this afternoon and on later inspection varroa were evident in this. ( Haven't counted 100 though!)

They were a late swarm from last year, and were treated with oxalic acid in the winter, although not Apiguard in the autumn as I didn't want to upset the new queen as they built up for the winter. There are no clinical signs of any varroa related diseases yet and is on an OMF floor in a National.

I have put in a shallow frame in the lower brood box to instigate drone brood removal and will monitor for the moment - any other suggestions? I'm reluctant to use anything else that will affect honey unless I have to.
