Uncapped Brood

In one of my colonies I have a puzzle. The queen was the result of a July supercedure last year. Her laing wasn't great and, to be honest, I was half-expecting the colony to succumb over the winter. But it hasn't and seems to be building up now, albeit more slowly than the others.

What is interesting about the brood with this queen is that a large amount (I'd say 50%) is uncapped. It seems to be developing OK but just uncapped.

What might be the reason/diagnosis? I do appreaciate that a picture would be helpful and I'll try to post one when I can.

Sounds very much like you have Bald brood, a picture would help.

sounds like baldbrood - often a symptom of varoosis
what is your treatment regime? check your mite infestation levels in all your hives

I treated with strips in the late autumn and I vaped with OA about a month ago.
