Wordle 235
Hmm, today's word might cause a little dissention amongst the ranks
My feed was full of people complaining about yesterday's word and 'blaming it on the Americans'.

But the media did say from the beginning that the inventor ran the word lists through his wife to make sure they weren't annoyingly obscure.
And that he lived in the US and his wife was American!

I don't suppose Aussie/NZ players complain that Pommy never comes up!

Another Grrrrrrrrrrr! Day

The odd thing where some (though not all) of these British English vs. American English differences occur is that the American English is actually the same as the British English used to be. It's the British English that has subsequently changed. In the case of many words ending "our" in British English as compared to "or" in American English, the original form often seems to be "or" and the insertion of the "u" appears to have happened in Britain in the late 1700s or early 1800s.

So whilst it sometimes irritates me, it's often our own fault. Or Samuel Johnson's, perhaps.

You mean.......A welsh word can be shorter than an English word with the same meaning?! Please excuse my outstanding display of ignorance!
Ll Ff, Dd, like the English double U is one letter, so is Ch, Ng, Ph, Rh, Th
So if you spell an English word using the Welsh alphabet..............

So coming back to broach - is that spelt broac ?
It's an English word not Welsh the CH in Welsh is like the German Ach so to sound like the English word would have to end in tsh so wouldn't be five letters but then using two t's next to each other is incorrect in Welsh as you cannot double a letter so letter would be wrong

Another sixer! I started off quite well with this, but I‘ve only just crept in recently.
