A couple of years ago I saved some cotoneaster seeds from a tree in my local arboretum. I set the seeds and they grew. The original tree is more of a tree than many short stubby cotoneasters you find so I was quite pleased. It also has a bright red berry (source of seeds)
I have noticed the new tree is starting to bud, but surprisingly there are what look like pussy willow buds. This leads me to think that the tree I have been nurturing for 2 years may not be what I was expecting. The new tree has lost all its leaves over the winter.
Can anyone confirm or otherwise that this is a cotoneaster?
