Did I read a while ago someone saying they apply their apiguard/apilife var by sliding it in on the removable floor under OMF or did I imagine that wishfully thinking?

If so, do we know if it works as well this way?

thanks in anticipation

Roger

Wishful thinking. Thymol vapours are heavy so it will work better if they fall over the bees. Also the top of the hive is warmer than the bottom, so the treatment won't work properly at the bottom.

Sorry.

plus apiguard at least works by contact with bees - getting from top down is obviously best way to guarantee this.

Having TBHs , I put mine on top of the OMF last year and put the bottom boards on. Worked very well.. mite drop and all.. Bees walk through it on exit - it was beside the restricted exit holes...

Please note this is not offered as an alternative to other treatments discussed- they only say it helps control populations, ie part of IPM.
