i got the same email, i also noted that the prices are higher than their open day prices.

Are they much higher? I suppose they will be doing all the work rather than going yourself and loading up wagons.

They also have us over a barrel as the demand is so high. Something we discovered through the association as apparently they wouldn't offer any meaning full discount for a bulk order and then failed to deliver a portion of that order, meaning we had to go elsewhere.

Some bits the same and some a bit more, see below for the Wragby prices.

Subject: Thorne's Winter Sale

Dear Beekeeper

Our Winter Sale will start on Tuesday 29th December at 9.00am online only when
full details will be on our website www.thorne.co.uk

Usually, we don't start until early January but, this year, we are giving you
the opportunity to "beat" the VAT rise on January 1st. On the last three
days of 2009, we will have just a few staff here at Wragby to process internet
orders including taking the payment for sale items. As we will be officially
closed, we won't be answering the telephone although we will try to respond
to e-mails. The shop will also be closed until Wednesday 6th January.
We will start to despatch orders from 6th January.

Now to the prices! (but remember that these will increase from 1st January
2010)

lol, I thought it might have but didnt dare suggest it!

How mad is it?

I haven't ordered from Th***es online before, how easy is it to get your order through for the online sale? I have figured out what I need, but will not be able to get online bang on 9am.

I am guessing that there will be a lot of interest and therefore pressure on their servers, what was last year like for those that ordered?

maisemore's clearance items are cheaper

maisemore's clearance items are cheaper

I did not try and get Maisemore clearance items this year, but on my last two visits, Maisemore firsts have been worse than Thornes seconds.

They have been extremely busy trying to keep up with orders and can only assume the extra work has brought their quality down.

Not only quality of the wood, but have had the wrong types of frames mixed together and even side bars without slots.

Hopefully I was just unlucky and will be back to the next year, but I will stop going if the quality continues to be bad.
