The firm is now set to concentrate on its industrial food ingredients division, which produces items used in processed foods such as soups and sauces.

The company has struggled to break even in sugar-cane refining under stiff competition from sugar-beet producers.

It's not that long ago, maybe last autumn that British producers were threatening to stop planting beet as the price offerred by British Sugar (circa 26 quid a tonne) was at or below their production costs

Loads of farmers have gone for beat around me this year...very surprised especially as York has gone and newark nearest.

Maybe its for cattle feed for winter ?
