That's why we imported their queens by the hundreds. But.....the mix with our native black bees has not always been too successful. Sometimes the crosses revert the NZ bees back to our own grumpy uk ways! And there is some suggestion that honey collecting by pure NZ bees was not as good as by our black bees

Total poppycock... any bee can become aggressive if the beeminder takes the time to aggravate them.
The endemic black bee is aggressive and non productive is a ruse used by those would have us all import foreign bees into our hallowed land every year because the bees purchased in the previous year did nor survive our specific temperate maritime climate.

And before everyone goes into a cabin fever finnohappyfit.... the writer has New Zealand Italian bees, Carniolian bees and Cornish black bees.... and none of them are aggressive... well not often !
