Hi,
I have removed the queen from a hive who intended to swarm (and put her in a mini nuc), destroyed all the queen cells, then 10 days later destroyed all the emergency queen cells. No eggs nor larvae left in this hive. I was wondering if I could reintroduce the queen (It would be 15 days since I removed her) why wait 28 days. The person who said he uses the "mini nuc method" said after 14 days you give them a frame with eggs, then 14 days later destroy the emergency queen cells and you are done.

If you have no eggs or larvae in the hive (hopelessly queenless) it needs either eggs or a queen. Has your queen continued to lay in this mini nucleus ? If so put the eggs and brood and queen back in hive. If she has gone off laying it will take another few days before she starts to lay again, and then another 40 before those first eggs become foragers. I think your hive will have reduced by then and you may well have a reduced honey crop.

Yes still laying as I then put her in a nuc, planning to unite, and I have a number of other nuc and colonies where I can take capped brood from to boost it.

I use the mini nuc method, but the original queen goes back... or a new one, on the 14th day after removal.

Thanks, I did not understand properly.

Out of interest HM, if putting the original queen back do you just run her in or use a cage?

Usually, yes, let the queen walk directly out onto a comb and then replace the comb, this is how I introduce about 95% of queens, works well, provided they are laying queens.
The failure rate here for this method is 1%.
