Someone posted about a firm who'd deliver large quantities of sugar at a reasonable price and my search foo has failed to find it, help(or alternative suggestions) appreciated.

Your interpretation of a large quantity might be a problem. Try Tate and Lyle but their idea of large and yours might be widely different

BAKO are different all over the country. Some are superb (BAKO NW) some are useless and dont want to deliver.
Min order is generally £150 but best price will be achieved on 1000kg (whole pallet). 50p per kilo is about average. Not huge savings to be made but handy to mix in 25kg sacks.
