Hi folks,

My brood box is so full of bees and stuck up with bridge comb that inspections are a bit daunting. Every frame I lift a frame, I have to wrestle it out as its so tight and I have seen drone brood squashed.

I use Hoffman frames in brood and supers. Just to be clear, what is the standard number of hoffmans (plus dummy board) in a brood box (national)?

I worry that theres potential for crushing brood, bees and even the queen when its all so solid.

Thanks in advance

11 + dummy (standard)
I'm a bit particular when it comes to wild comb and remove it on every inspection even if it has drone brood on it, be careful to inspect it for QC before removing

Thanks redwood. This comb really is wild! whats the best way to remove it without damaging foundation etc? a scrape with the hive tool maybe

A scrape with the hive tool.
Some people also keep the scrapings for future use!
