Having fed the bees during the cold wet spell we've had
/are having, (and probably over fed with the sugar being a newbee), is there ANY way of telling stored sugar from stored honey ?

As usual many thanks for any answers

where did you put the feed on the hive?stored sugar sometimes looks white.if fed on super the honey is now contamanated with sugar, fine for bees not for selling

Is it capped?

Mark the frames which contain sugar water, you could feed it back to them when in Autumn. Or extract the frames ready for the next flow.

Ok looks like ive made errr quite a few Newbee mistakes lol
Sooooo where to go, basically fed on top of two supers .. yep you dont need to say it .. one practically empty and one partly drawn. (all the stores in first had been eaten as in brood chamber). Next mistake was feeding 2:1 sugar instead of 1:1 ...
So ways ive thought of getting out of this .... Leave one brood box on and ..

1. Use other super on hive I have recently merged for food .. might not be a great idea as brood box hasnt been fully drawn ??

2. Store the super and give it to them at a later date ?

Be gentle with me lol !!

feed back to bees later(for winter stores).
q...why are you feeding in summer is the weather that bad?
i only feed in summer....swarms,nucs,splits.
you could just leave supers on hive, winter not that far away......

IF it is one or the other, it is easy. Mixtures are more difficult.

Pollen content, pH or sucrose content. Trading standards are good at finding it, if you are tempted to try to sell it.
