New Bee
As a fairly new beekeeper, what are the ”rules” for spring feeding in North Yorkshire? To feed or not to feed? Thank you.
But but but .... we have just had a starvation warning from the BBKA ?????There are two rules of feeding:
1 Feed them when they are hungry - no stores.
2. Don't feed them when they have stores and/or bringing in nectar

Happens twice a year at leastAbout a month too late in some places and irrelevant in others... You only need to look at questions on this forum about feeding and the "What did you do in the apiary today" thread to see that.
But this time they threw in a foulbrood warning for luck!Happens twice a year at least

NonsenseWhat is foulbrood warning?
foulbrood can stay for decades and not be obvious, but flare up when the bees are stressed, eg when starving, if you feed sugar syrup when they have plenty of stores they will just add it to their stores, then when you have your nice full supers ready to extract ... you are extracting sugar syrup that has been processed into so called honey
Nothing - but nobody has told that to the BBKABut what it has to do with foulbrood?
