I have peas to spray for pea moth(unfortunately reached threshold) and wondered as a new beekeeper what the best routine would be to protect my bees. If I close entrance in evening and spray first thing in morning how long should they be restricted to the hive after spraying etc?

Many thanks

On the presumption you are talking about a field crop....

Spray at first light before bees are out. In this weather I wouldn't seal them in as it's likely to cause them at least as much distress as the spraying. By spraying that early you will also minimise damage to bumbles etc.

However, there is such a good nectar flow at present, some bees will be out and about early but on a wide variety of forage so probably not too much on your peas.

Many thanks for the advice, have not read of any great interest by honey bee on field peas but want to minimise any risks(had hoped not have to spray at all). Will get things moving nice and early.
Best regards Spencer
