Its a wool carder bee, Anthidium Manicatum. Nice photos! My son found this hairy beastie in the garden today. Can anyone shed any light on what it is please? He keeps asking and I have no idea.
Cheers.

I’ve been monitoring my mulleins for those but no luck. Its a wool carder bee, Anthidium Manicatum. Nice photos!
I haven't seen any here either, Steven Falk's book "The field guide to bees of great Britain and Ireland" says there scarce in Wales apart from the southern costal areas.I’ve been monitoring my mulleins for those but no luck.
I've put it on their online register. Cheers.A quick look over at BWARS (the bees, wasps and ants recording society) suggests that's a fairly rare sighting in your area. They would doubtless be interested in hearing from you.
