Hi All
Do any of you use shrink wrap bands around your lids,if you do where do you source them from.

No, but I will be interested if anyone does......good idea!

What you might consider is buying bags off ebay that are 12cm wide (or near to)and cutting them up into appropriate size strips........

or....put the whole jar in the bag...twist the top of the bag...secure with a bit of cellotape...shrink the bags and then tie a bit of ribbon into a bow..

This will also stop any smudging on the labels.........

1 yard length 6.14 that makes it about 2.00 for 12 still expensive

I suppose it depends on how much 'added value' it puts on your honey ... some people are so paranoid about food safety I wonder whether it would appeal to them ? You could brand it as 'special' or 'premium' ... even if it's the same stuff inside the jar !!

I was hoping it might be a band that just fitted round the outside edge of the lid and the top of the jar like you see on some jars, usually has a little red strip to open it. Is that we are all talking about?

that's what I was looking for, but I think dishmop is talking about shrink bags and cutting into strips not sure

What's wrong with tamper evident seals?

...do all bags shrink with heat.
Not in the same way. Most of the diy size packs of heat shrink are labelled PVC. Most of the diy size "heat shrink" product packs seem to be tubes aimed at electronics applications. Protection for connectors and other cable joins, slip a length of tube over and heat with a paint strip gun. The small sizes mean it's fairly easy to heat the small area involved.

I suspect most of the supermarket jars with seals are applied with automatic packing machinery. Quick search shows equipment like http://www.jentonbandingsystems.co.uk/ (no connection, just turned up in search). Downside is your honey looks like a mass produced product, that might not be what you want.
