Hi, I plan to make a few more nucs next week from ply wood and was wondering what is the best product available to waterproof and seal the edges. :smash:

I used a thin covering of two part aralidite mix - seems to worked ok

If you can find Hedgerow Pete's nuc box videos he recommends urea resin glue, such as Resintite that's available in big tubs from the likes of Toolstation. Cheap, waterproof and fills gaps if the wood cuts are less than precise. Worked for me.

Not quite ply, but I seal all end grain, first with a application of preservative and then allow as much good quality varnish to be absorbed as will be. When dried, another coat (at least). I look at it from the point that it has penetrated as deeply as possible and has a continual film at the surface.

four good ideas, which one is the quickest and lasts the life of the ply wood ?
