Hi Steven
Welcome to this forum, hope someone from up your way comes along and can be of help to you.

I get the impression that there are few members of the forum in the borders area, is this likely?

My wife's uncle used to be a policeman in Coldstream. He kept bees at Clovenford, until his son was found to have a severe allergic reaction to bee stings. That must have been in the early 70's though.

Cmon folks, you know you are out there. :grouphug:

The second entry appears to be for a Coldstream branch of the SBKA. Make contact (check Google for an online presence too) and pop along. They will have an apiary and be able to help you on the ground with some of the practical things such as local bees for sale etc.

About 40 members, several beginners, meet in the Legion in Coldstream, close to unique as it has its own bar!

Norman Jarvis wrote the piece I'm quoting from in the Scottish Beekeeper, and his contact details are here:

hope that helps!

Gavin
