I think you will find that this is another bot. Google "Samuel Hannah Shelton" and see how many other boards they have posted a single post to.

I hope you find time to keep your bee as you seem very very busy with other forums and groups?

Sorry, yep - I meant an automated spamming robot type thingy.

I couldn't quite see why either they had done it either. No links in their profile or anything. Either a faulty bot, a stupid one, or maybe the forum software has stopped them from adding the bit they wanted to.

It's all part of the newest generation of "spammers", which have now gone way beyond "buy our todger pills here" with a link..... There are programmes out there that will automatically enrol on thousand of forums, and place innocuous "hello" posts - which gets them "accepted" by board admins - then you wake up one morning to find the site riddled with spam links (they're "in", they have posting rights, they use them.........)
It's a "numbers" game - it takes the spammers no time to post thousands of links -if only a tiny proportion get clicked, they make money......

There are even some that do a double-act.......... one "member" posts "where can I buy banned chemicals to put on my bees?", then the other chimes in with "go to Pestco.Inc" with a helpful link.........

here's chapter and verse on just one.........http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XRumer

I'm curious to know what the point of this sort of spam is. There is no direct link back to another site, which is the usual ploy.

Ooops...just spotted BV's post above. Many thanks.

you spotted that straight away how can you tell Regards Andrew

The user joins the forum and posts a message, after the message or within it is spam links to websites.

My spam filter/fritter fryer destroys the link code that they use so you dont see it posted on the forum..

The only ones I can't stop is the peeps from India on 2 pence per hour who join and post rather than use software.
I have to use our own members to moderate the forum and report the spam posts.

Mark.

I love it! If it wasn't for spam we'd never get to enjoy reading about a program called a 'fritter fryer':biggrinjester:

Spare a thought for poor Samuel Hannah Shelton though, he had serious sexual orientation problems when at school, not helped by his parents confusion over names and now spends his/her time desperately seeking friendship amongst weird introverted groups of specialist hobbiests. It's no life really :reddevil:

I don't think we'll see any more of Samuel Hannah Shelton's posts. Currently he/she's standard introductory post is being torn apart by different forum admins across the web!!!!

609,000 pages of forums/websites have been hit by Samuel Hannah Shelton.

The amazing thing is we have made page two of Google if you search with the keywords.

That puts us in the top 50 websites of importance in Google out of the 609,000 pages of results.

That SEO book I read as a kid must of been good :)

If you were reading books on search engine optimisation as a kid I can only assume you were in the same special needs class for gifted but 'different' children as young Samuel was - and look what happened to him / her / it!

:D

You guys are the bees' knees! :biggrinjester:

(sorry, just couldn't help me'self)
