if you have a queen from a reliable strain, but who's laying pattern is patchy and you want to replace her...is it ok to use her eggs to allow them to re-queen from or would you use a FOE from another colony

i have one who is from a strain i like and who's laying rate is good but patchy....wonder if her eggs would be fine to allow re-queening from
