Hi, first attempt at rendering my own beeswax. Looks like it has filtered ok and is clean but it has a horrible rotten fleshy smell to it. I have used wax cappings, burr comb and also break offs from bottom of brood which had larvae in it. Am i correct in thinking that any wax with grubs etc should be avoided as this is what has caused the foul smell?

I let the birds pick off the pupae and hose out the larvae before rendering -I think the brood soaks up the molten wax water robbing the net weight.
Id run it through again and see if you can improve it-nothing to lose

Hadn’t thought about letting the birds help out…could try this next time 👍
