I was wondering if it might be useful to remove surplus frames of sealed stores from the affluent hives to use later when making increases or to keep for when the nectar flow dries up. Some of my hives have 4-5 sealed frames which I pressume will slow down their currently rapid build-up; and I dont want to be buying sugar constantly.

Do some of you do this?

The first year I kept bees I overfed in the late winter so they had surplus stores and little room for the queen to lay. I lost an early swarm !!!!
So yes, if the nest box is getting short of space take frames out to use another time. I keep mine in the freezer but you can just as easily freeze thaw wrap and store in cling film.
