Question about a swarm.

A beekeeping friend of mine who is not on the forum has captured a swarm. Most of it is in a nuc but a pile of the bees has decided to set up house underneath the nuc and will not go in. She is wondering why this may be. Would anyone have any ideas why?

The likelihood if it’s a prime swarm the box is too small.
The queen could be underneath but then I’d expect all the bees to be outside.

Thanks for that. I dont think its a very big swarm. Its just on about three frames. We were wondering if the queen was below. I will have to ask for more details.

Shake them all into one box and set the entrance to QX for a couple of days.
