Is it to late to kill a nasty queen ?
We have a large and aggressive hive with a very prolific queen, But the are very nasty and follow 100m.
Advice Please.

Is it too late, probably not.

However what drones will your new virgin encounter?

It might be as well to let the current lass reside through until Spring and consider requeening then, unless your circumstances are such, ie garden lol, that you need to requeen now.

Splash, have they always followed and been aggressive ? or is it since they got some stores and the weather turned bad ?

Splash,

As Poly hive says, or split, raise another queen. If successful, go from there. Little lost.

Two queens would lay twice as many eggs as one, late in the season. Might be good for uniting if nothing else.

Even with 6 hives there is probably not enough spare brood when you want it.

That is what I am doing just now with a nasty aggressive colony like yours - except mine follow about 200m! If it works out, all well and good. If not, nothing lost.

At least you can make the split develop a QC from one of your nicer colonies.

Just keeps your options open.

Alternatively, buy in a new Q and replace the old one - no time lost waiting for QCs and mating then.
