Does anyone know what would be the best bait to place in wasp traps to catch queen wasps in early spring.

I saw 12 wandering about in March- 5 on lounge carpet at various times.. No trap needed, just a shoe.
Had little problem with wasps this year although 100's in the new hornet trap floor (2 hornets!)
Hornet nest about 300yds away from hives never bothered the bees. All hives going into winter healthy.

WBKA sent us a Hornet Trap after the last sighting.
All it is doing is killing off substantial numbers of the rest of the insect population!

Must be the end of the season again we are already talking about wasp control for next year!

Once the log burner goes on we seem to get quite a few that must have hibernated in the logs. As the logs warm by the side of the burner for a few days the wasps come out to be swatted or chewed up by the dog

That is the problem, only really want to trap queen wasps in spring to help save some of the other insect population.

Just as many European hornets here as wasps, don't bother trapping wasps here later in the season as they have never been a problem with regards the bees, even those in the the mini mating nucs.
