so how much are we all charging for honey this year?

To family i get shafted as they tend to get it free but to friends and others normaly £3:50. Some times i think iam asking for too much ?

i thought £3.50-£4 was the going rate

at the farmers market Isle of wight £4.50

£5 but I'm thinking of going £5.50

Can we have a think here please.

It is NO use at all saying I charge £X.

The question is what do you charge £X for?

If we are comparing straight out the extractor and into the jar after a night in the ripener, into a squat jar with a bog standard printed label on squint fair enough.

If we are discussing mono floral honey then no.

If we are discussing creamed honey in a good jar and a specialist label then it's another ball game.

So what are we discussing?

PH

I have no idea what it is, as i was told the price by one of my customers.
And i have not bought any :(

As above but with a nice pro label £5 maybe £5.50 this year. (not OSR)

Got a point there

Polyfloral
In 454g Jars
metal lids, printed lables+tamper proof sticker.

Going rate in good local shops is around the £4.50 mark i sell for £3.50

thats a good point PH, is everyone selling in lb jars last year on the BBKA forum a lot of people were changing to smaller jars as they said they was beter off with small jars at a price allmost the same as the lb jars

I bought a job lot of 1lb jars still got a few left to use up.

So here is a question:

1. What would you pay for a 12oz globe jar with professional labelling, woodland honey (Beech wood mainly), and natty rafia ties on a fancy cloth topped jar.

We have been asked by a high end food gallery for 50lbs of this and do not know what to charge them?

All ideas welcome, like John Lewis, we wouldn't want to be undersold...

All thoughts welcome,
Sam

It's a case of supply and demand . Also of importance is location . £3.50 would be the max in my part of Lancashire :) but in Yorkshire , the beekeeper would be expected buy the jars back and pay for the washing there off ! plus run the customer home :ack2:
Hear all, see all say nowt
Eat all sup all pay nowt
If tha does owt fer nowt,
Do it fer thi sen !
TIKES MOTTO :svengo:

Oops, War of the Roses here we go!!

And we know who won the last one :svengo:.

The red rose club regularly have coach trips over into white rose territory.
The border between East Lancashire and West Yorkshire is transient :)
I know of a cricket field that is bisected by the border leading to some good natured barracking in the pavilion .
Though what it has to do with the price of Honey is anybodies guess ?
Sorry folks , back to O/P.
