Hi, everyone

I have just been offered a great site for an Apiary:D, its about an acre, walled and gated and has vehicle access with a overlooking house for security.

For the moment there is a sufficient wind break but i would like to plant more Trees/bushes, for cover and extend the wind break over the next few years.

Can anyone suggest a suitable tree/bush that is fast growing and bee friendly.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Dave

Pussy Willow or other salix to give you early pollen

Firethorn is stock proof, evergreen ,will grow as a hedge or against a wall(even an east facing one) and is loved by bees !!

I agree with all of the above but would add hazel - good pollen AND nuts - if you can get them before the fauna:seeya:

Blackthorn.

And in November, you can harvest the sloes and make sloe gin!!!!!!!
