I like the idea of trying out a Warré hive next Spring, alongside the Langstroth that my one tiny colony is going to fill.
I've seen one design where the back of each box is glass, with an expanded polystyrene and wood cover that can be removed to see what the bees are up to.
Has anyone tried making a Warré hive out of Perspex? Every box completely transparent? Wouldn't that look fantastic? Not a cheap idea, or one that would scale well, but might be good fun.
