I'm about to unite a Q- nuc to a healthy hive . Should I use a single sheet of newspaper between them or two? Dave Cushman says "one or two", but Roger Patterson says "2-3" - and that's on the same web page! What chance do we ordinary mortals have?

.
I do not use paper. Goes fine.

If the queen is valuable, I put the queen under " push in cage".

One sheet for me - never a problem.

Depends if you read the Sun or the Guardian? I think it just need to cover the area completely.

I use a natural aerosol air freshener (per ITLD). Much easier. Set up a three frame nuc this pm with frames from two different hives - one squirt and that's it..

If you use air freshener make sure it is not almond flavour! I use vanilla flavour. Having used it for a couple of years I would never go back to paper!

The Belfast Telegraph and perhaps the Ballymeena Guardian are also excellent to create unity, when bees have been divided into separate communities and a decision is made to bring them together.

I don't participate in the purchase of a daily newspaper so air freshener every time for me
