I’ve heard plenty of times of virgin queens making a piping noise but never an old queen.
on inspection yesterday, I came across sealed queen cells and no eggs, I knew they had not swarmed, so finding the queen, I left 1 cell and put here in a nuc. On inspection checking no queen cells going into the nuc and watching the queen she would stop on the comb and make the piping noise, she did this several times, I’m taking this is a I’m ready to leave signal. I did check and double check to see if and cells had hatched and making sure no virgin queen was in there, but nothing. Anyone else come across this.
