I’m about to switch to octopus cosy but I believe I can be sent a £50 discount code by an existing customer.
Anyone want to send me one for a £50 sweetener?.

I'm an Octopus Tracker customer. Without going into long explanation it's saved me a lot of money since I joined. It has risks of being hit with expensive days but it has some exceedingly cheap days. Yesterday was the most expensive I've encountered at 25.09 pence per unit but on 25th November it was only 12.64 pence. The average rate in the last month was 21.68pence. Tomorrow's price is issued about 11.00 so consumption can be planned ie within reason do the laundry or a batch of baking on the most advantageous day. It's a tariff for people who can play the long game as panicking about a high price day means it's probably best staying away. There's a FB group for users Octopus Energy - Tracker tariff which might interest some.

I'm also on Tracker. When I switched in March it halved my bills. Although some days may be above the standard tariff, I look at it as an average. I understand the rates can drop from towards the end of December as they switch on additional wind turbines and the wind force increases.

Winter wind patterns can be unpredictable. Solar has little to contribute due to short days, low angle of the sun, cloud cover and occasionally snow cover. A couple of the nuclear generators are undergoing maintenance and refuelling at the moment which has reduced UK baseload supply and power is being bought on the wholesale market from European generators to make up the shortfall. This should be completed in the near future and bring the wholesale price down.
