What do bees do at night? Do they sleep? Do they cluster up like in the winter due to the lower temperatures? Does the queen carry on laying?

Sorry for the flurry of questions I just haven't read anything that covers night time behaviour at all.

Thanks.

They get organised for the next day, shift nectar about and spend a fair bit of time fanning drying off the nectar. Yep the queen lays away and I suppose snoozes now and then too. And well deserved it is too.

Watch this, I think this is the best movie I've seen inside a hive to date.

Time Lapse series of 11,000 pictures made into a movie.
Non stop work building combs over a week. If theres a job to be done in the hive they all play their part.

Whilst agreeing with Polyhive you can prove it to yourself (depends how easy to get to your apiary at night). I recently moved a swarm after dusk and then returned to open them up after a pint at the local at 10:30pm. Listening at the other hives you could hear the buzz from inside as they fanned after a good days collection. Good to hear!
