Same here in Lancashire today. Just like a summers day.

Mine are active but no pollen collected yet. The gorse has started to bloom but they dont look fully open yet

Gorse flowering here but mine have lots of pollen stores no need to go out foraging :winner1st:
Gorse flowers all year .

They've been at the hellebores on my back step.

Cold here.
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.

Much colder here today but I went for a walk yesterday and was surprised to see many Catkins in full flow, clouds of pollen coming off when knocked, Hellibores in flower and even Rhodedendrons.
I worry that there will be nothing around later in the year when they really need it! :willy_nilly:

I've seen plenty of pollen going in the last few days. I popped open one of the hives yesterday and it was teeming with bees but curiously was also full of stores....and brood.
I'm half tempted to add another super (currently on 1.5) to give them a bit more space.

Maybe a snap of cold weather will help the bees and me with aligning our annual chronometer, because at the moment it all feels off

I checked all my hives 3 days ago and found wasps trying to get in the hives at one apiary, the wasps were also scraping the wood on the roofs. I am hoping this cold weather might sort the wasps out.

that sounds like nest building activity! Queens should still be dormant but I did see a couple flying around the other day which must have been drawn out by the warm spell.

I'd be very worried about a full hive of Bees at this time of year, there's little to no Nectar available to them only Pollen, they'll run out of food very quickly! no point in adding a Super... what are they going to fill it with?
