Two of my hives swarmed at the end of May (24th).
Due to the bad weather they took forever for the Queens to mate, finally on 1st July there were some eggs and brood. Now there are charged queen cells (4 on 1 frame in one hive and 2 on one frame in the other) and still some eggs. I didn't go through every frame so there could be more cells.
These Q's both have stacks of room but are trying to swarm or supersede. Anyway rain stopped play yesterday and as both hives are stroppy at the moment I'll go back when its not raining with some assistance.
My view is that due to the weather and therefore amount of time that the Q's took to mate then perhaps they've not mated properly and are therefore being superceded?
