If you are after wood, wait until after Christmas and the Thrones sales, had some for a few years and been okay. If you want poly , then the other retailers will no doubt be having sales as well.

The chap at Exmoor bees makes some excellent English Western Red Cedar hives..

depends what you want - Thornes have a mail order sale on in the new year if you are happy with British cedar flat pack kit, all of them will have items on sale in Beetradex and the spring conventions

I’m fed up with customer services and I’m now looking for personal small supplier Who appreciate my custom rather than hanging up on me.
All my hive came from one company hence why I’m looking for recommendations on national cedar hives

I bought my first hive from Exemoor Bees ( Peter Little ) Their service was second to none. As a first time buyer i was given lots of support, allowed to ask a host of probably stupid questions that were answered honestly and without criticism. I was also offered any amount of beekeeping advice as I needed it. You cannot better that for service.

Not the cheapest out there and there was no self assembly option ( though that suited me ) but the hive is beautifully built ( much admired at work where it was stored whilst being treated and overwintered ). I have my second on order for next year. By the way I am not related or have any business interest in Exmoor bees, just a really pleased customer. Hope this helps

You sound strange...

Maisemore give a first rate personal service, as do Thornes and most of the others I know. Maybe you need to be a bit more specific in this case.

I was browsing for something else but came across this site claiming to be family run small business - worth a call or email probably. http://www.border-hives.co.uk/index.html

I've always found customer service to be excellent from all the major Bee Keeping suppliers.
So surprised (and intrigued) as to who hung up on you.

Well Steve, it must be said, so do you sometimes :)

Border Hives seems to be the same outfit as Caddon hives - not sure why they want to to trade under two names. NEver dealt with either but the prices do seem good. The bamboo QXs sound odd.

Caddon... no problem, although the Chinese characters on the knock down packages are a bit of a give away as to possible non FSC source of the timber...
as to bamboo QX... make nice wall art!

Whom did you go with in the end?

I had a similar wish and after much research went to http://www.peak-hives.co.uk/ a specialist carpenter based in the Peak District that focuses on RWC nationals.

Top quality, and am sure he appreciated the business even if I asked a lot of noob questions and only bought a hive with a couple of Supers.

Quality was top notch.

Builds or flat packs.

I fail to understand why members do not simply contact forum member ”Hivemaker” for hives. Perhaps his screen name is too subtle for most forumers?

Any of the major online suppliers who choose to use a delivery service that sends me a text with a 1 hour delivery slot. Thank you bee-equipment.
