I got a call out to a swarm in a park near to me. Apparently it arrived about 4.00pm and it emptied the park of all users. It then settled in an Oak tree only to have some darlings knock it out with a football. I decided I had to help before someone got hurt.

You can see the problem I had and then the solution I employed, I used the "Horizontal Poly National".

As I could not wait hours for all the scouts to return, nor leave the hive for fear of it being vandalised. I took it away and then returned two hours later to collect the scouts using exactly the same method, but with an Apidea.

The swarm is now hived and living on a farm.

LOL excellent.

Update on the swarm collected.

10 days after being hived. Very docile bees 7 std national frames drawn with 5 frames of brood and eggs.

Very happy with this swarm.

Thats brilliant news :) can't believe someone kicked a football at them, that's so mean. Pity they weren't stung. Might think twice next time. Good to hear they are happy after that.
