I used 35 years multi section mating nucs. I had learned it and it was sensible. You devide normal store in 3 different parts. Heat economy we think.

Problem is that new queens pipe and call to each oher to fight for life and death. Losses of virgin queens were big. Even bees changed their nucs.

When I made separate mating nucs, losses were not any more.
In separate poly nucs heat economy is even better than in multi nucs.

Small sepatare nucs are easy to handle and carry between home yeard and mating yard. Nuc bees is easy to join to each others when you take queen off.

I also tried multi nucs long time ago, gave up on them for the same reasons as Finman. Individual nucs are much better in every way.

I have make new nucs for spring on my winter list of jobs.
Thats the same list that seems to grow day by day.
