Moving hive.

My freind is giving me a nuc but is only half a mile away from where I am going to keep them.
I was going to take them three mile away to the other end of the farm, but how long do they have to stop there till they can come back

10 days ususally does it especially if you place some debris e.g. sticks or grass in front of the hive entrance.

Yes it causes them to re-orientate. So im told. anyway it works for me.

Two weeks, but never tested it for anything less; and anyway, I prolly leave them longer if the opportunity presents itself. Can't remember the last time it was an important issue.

So my question might be: Is time an issue?

Probably not really could stop there for a couple of weeks.

Stuff the entrance with grass and let them chew their way out and then they will reorientate themselves - no probs. Make sure there ain't a clod of earth in too though!!!!
