Mouse Guards

I understand the purpose of Mouse Guards. My question is, why aren't they left in place all year rather than being removed and re-installed annually?

Because they strip pollen off the bees, slow traffic especially during a flow and make it difficult for bees to throw out their dead
There is a way to keep your mouse guard on all year without those drawbacks and that’s to have an underfloor entrance

Just been out watching the bees around the hives. They seem to be bringing in modest quantities of some dark orange pollen which I would think is probably snowdrop pollen since they are more or less the only flowers out at the moment.
