Hi All,

Use entrance reducer.

Ventilation is important to bees in summer.

But the wheels have been invented allready in this case,
but entrances does not bring honey but they can stop it to come.

I suppose that 6 mm is minimum. But pygmy shrew (Sorex minutus) has been told to pass the hole.

One hive and so big problem?

One hive atm is irrelevant as I am planning to build 10 hives over the winter ready for the spring...................so it is a problem cos I need to get it right.

Finman.................have you been doing this so long that you have forgoten about being a beginner.............a bit more understanding would be more appreciated............if I knew the answer to the question I wouldn't have asked it.

Roy ,
the Queen negotiates the 6 mm beespace with ease or there would be few eggs laid.

47 years but your idea is not essential at all.
Sometimes beginners try make more revolution than beekeeping.

Mice go into hive only in winter when bees are in tight cluster.
Otherwise bees sting the mouse. You need not mouse protection in summer, or get more angry bees.
